Getting the most out of Sampling Campaigns and Experiential Activations

Product sampling campaigns are some of our favorite projects to work on. They’re fun, and you get the opportunity to meet consumers face to face and listen to what they have to say about your product or service. Product sampling can be a critical component to your marketing plan.

How can you make the most of your Sampling Campaign or Experiential Activation?

Make sure that your sampling campaign experience represents your brand in the best way possible.

Sampling campaigns could be one of the only times that some of your prospects will have the chance to try your product so do everything within your power to ensure an absolutely stellar experience. Selecting the right brand ambassadors to represent your brand authentically, provide them with the information and training they need to be successful for your brand activation. They need to be knowledgable and helpful, kind and respectful. Make sure that your inventory is checked, in terms of your sampling product. If you run out, obviously this can present a major problem, bring extra. Make sure the product is presented properly, noting environmental factors such as heat, light, humidity, etc.

Set clear objectives and goals to measure your success

Be sure to set clear goals and objectives for yourself and your stakeholders. Keep your team working towards your goals and eliminate redundancies and learn to become as efficient as possible.

Measure your Metrics, analytics and analyze and adjust your campaigns

Look for opportunities to capture customer feedback, speak to sampling teams, review outcomes and actively look for improvements. Measure your success in social channels, or based on products sampled, or customer feedback. This data will prove highly valuable for determining the success of future campaigns.

Target Users Geographically and Reactively

Make sure you’re sampling and activating in the right locations at the perfect times of the day. This can actually require some creative and thoughtful thinking. Your schedule can have a dramatic affect on the success of the campaign, so make sure you put in the time to get it right. During the campaign be mindful of things like the weather, and other environmental concerns, city permits, etc.

Be Loud, be social, be heard

Sampling is always considered a gesture of goodwill so encourage people to spread the word. Use existing social networks, hyperlocal influencers/ambassadors, to spread the word about the sampling and make the experience reach a far greater distance. Positive experiences will be shared with your sampling prospects social audiences, thus further distributing your brand message. You can’t beat free press coverage. 😉
